Quick guide for specimen field care:

  • DO NOT wash or salt.

  • Try to get to it before your dog does.

  • (For birds) Do not wring neck to kill.

  • (For birds) Wrap head and feet with damp paper towel then gently tuck head under wing. Wrap the rest of the bird in saran wrap then put in several plastic bags before freezing.

  • Wrap up and store in a cooler while in the field. Move to a freezer ASAP.

How long will my project take?

We do not overload ourselves with projects so you will receive your mount in a reasonable timeframe, usually no more than 4 months.

When should i be ready to pickup?

We will call when your mount is finished. Once called, your project should be picked up within two weeks. There will be a storage fee added to your current balance for delays in pickup.

What if an emergency causes me to not be able to pick up on time?

Please give us a call! We want to work with you and there are always exemptions. If you know you will not be able to pick it up due to deployment, please let us know. It is our goal to accommodate service members.

What if i am unable to pay the rest of the 50% on pickup?

You cannot pickup if you are unable to pay the remaining balance. We will hold it for two weeks before storage fees begin to accrue. If you do not intend to pay, you forfeit your original deposit as well as the finished mount.

What if i change my mind and don’t want the mount after drop off and payment of the 50% deposit?

If your project has not been started, you will be given a refund and your specimen will be returned to you or disposed of if not picked up in a timely manner. If your project has been started, you forfeit your deposit and your project will be paused. Depending on the stage your project is in, you also forfeit your mount as well. For example: If your mount is in the process of drying/unpainted/tanning you will not receive your project without further compensation equal to the amount of time sunk into the project. If your mount has only been skinned, unmounted, or untanned, your specimen will be returned.

What if i am unsatisfied with my mount?

We can discuss options if you find yourself unsatisfied with aspects of your mount. If they it can be fixed, like repainted/put on a different base, we would love to make it right. Unfortunately, it can be very difficult to change some aspects of your mount, like the pose, without completely destroying the mount. It is important to be as descriptive as possible when you initially bring in your specimen. Reference pictures are requested. If we cannot resolve your issues with the project, you will forfeit your deposit and the finished mount if the remaining payment has not been made. If the mistake is with us, refund options can be discussed on a per case basis.
